Foothills Farm Lesson Program

Accredited Riding Instruction
Foothills Farm offers the only lesson program in Northern Ontario with fully certified EC/NCCP riding instructors. We produce all levels of riders, from recreational to very active provincial and national competitors.

With an emphasis on the hunter/jumper discipline, our lesson program is tailored to provide quality riding instruction with good horsemanship skills. No horse? No problem! Foothills has a good selection of experienced resident school horses to suit all levels of riders.

We offer a variety of instructional settings, including group lessons, semi-private (up to 3 riders per session) and private (one-on-one) instruction.

Our lessons are one hour in length, and are offered at various timeslots daily. Students are grouped according to experience, which provides the best possible learning environment. Lessons start promptly and students are encouraged to arrive at least one-half hour prior to their scheduled lesson time allowing sufficient time to prepare their horse for riding.

At Foothills, we encourage safety at all times. All students must wear properly fitted riding helmets and boots with a heel. If you do not have your own riding helmet, you can borrow one from the riding school tack room. Long hair should be secured neatly in a pony tail, as to not obstruct rider’s view. Gloves are recommended, but not mandatory. Remember to always dress for the weather! Although we have an indoor riding arena, it is not heated during winter months.

Lessons must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise you will be charged accordingly. Make up lessons will be available for all lessons that are cancelled on our behalf or a payment adjustment will be made. For any other special circumstance you are asked to discuss them with your riding instructor.

All payments are required prior to the beginning of the monthly session.

Clinics

Foothills Farm hosts a number of clinics throughout the fall and winter months to further the education of both our riders and instructors alike. Clinics are typically held over a two-day period. These sessions involve focussed instruction with a reputable, experienced, international team member, providing students with an opportunity to learn from the best.

Foothills Farm welcomes riders from other farms to bring their own horse, or rent a school horse. Please call Cathy Inch to discuss which session would best suit your needs. Clinics fill up fast so book early to avoid disappointment.
